The Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA

The HCS 2011 annual meeting will be held at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) at Woods Hole, MA. The MBL is one of the most storied and recognized sites in all of biology, being the site of pioneering work on the fine structure of cells and the discovery of green fluorescent protein which led to the development of revolutionary techniques for imaging live cells; the home to the MBL summer courses; and a point of affiliation for more than 50 Nobel laureates.

The campus itself is situated around the Eel Pond, a small inlet from Vineyard Sound. The campus is also directly adjacent to the village of Woods Hole. The campus is rich with laboratories, but our activities will be centered on two buildings. The first of these is the Swope Conference Center, which overlooks the Eel Pond. It includes housing, a cafeteria with a large number of daily food choices (including vegetarian options), and excellent space for the poster sessions. The Swope Conference Center is also where activities such as registration will occur. The Swope Center is near the Lillie Laboratory which contains meeting space for the oral presentations and laboratory sessions for the hands-on short course. The auditorium is well equipped with state of the art audio-visual equipment.
