Traveling to and from Woods Hole, what are the options? Please remember that Woods Hole is about a two hour bus ride from either of the airports that serve this area (Boston or Providence). Peter Pan Bus Line provides service from these airports to Woods Hole. You will need to check the PP Website to determine the schedule for pickup at the airport: http://bit.ly/b4TJgM
Participants who travel by bus from the airports will be dropped off at the Bus Terminal in Woods Hole, which is a short walk from the MBL. You may either walk about three blocks to the Swope Conference Center at MBL or take a cab.
We strongly recommend that you arrive at Woods Hole by late afternoon or early evening. The Swope Center is not staffed in the evening and you need to wait for someone to give you access. Email us if you have questions.
There is parking available at Woods Hole but we recommend that you car pool when possible.
What if I want to bring a guest with me?
HCS suggests that you look for accommodations in Woods Hole instead of on campus at MBL. The accommodations at Woods Hole are intended for attendees of the meeting.
Do I still need to pay full registration if I plan to stay in Woods Hole or Falmouth? The registration fee (for a complete list of fees go to:http://www.regonline.com/histochemistry2012
Registration with MBL housing and a meal plan provides the best meeting plan, although you can register without housing and meals. If you opt for registration alone and stay off campus the meeting registration alone includes the scientific sessions, the JHC Editorial board meeting, and HCS business meeting and reception, and all coffee breaks. It does not include meals or housing.
May I purchase meals at MBL? A meal plan that includes all meeting meals and the banquet will be available on site for purchase. You may also purchase individual meals on a cash basis.
Accommodations: The rooms at MBL are dormitory style. Each room has a small private bath. Linens and towels are provided.
I am coming from outside the U.S., do I need a visa?

What if I want to come early to visit the area?
The arrangements for accommodations and meals that HCS has made with MBL do not begin until Saturday afternoon, March 17th for the HCS Short Course. Accommodations end on Saturday morning, March 24th for the HCS Annual Meeting. There are sleeping accommodations and restaurants available in Woods Hole and Falmouth. Places to eat, drink and hang out: March is a quiet time in Woods Hole and not everything is open. Almost all of the places in Woods Hole that are open are located on Water Street, a short walk (5 minutes) from the MBL. Favorite spots that participants at the 2011 meeting included The Fishmonger and Captain Kidd. If you like good coffee Bill Stahl recommends Pie in the Sky or Coffee Obsession Cafe.

Coffee and Internet Cafes
There are a two wonderful coffee shops in Woods Hole some recommendation above.
Pie in the Sky is a bakery that also serves coffee, soup and sandwiches and serves as an Internet café. A five minute walk from campus: http://www.woodshole.com/pie/
Coffee Obsession, 38 Water Street. Excellent coffee shop with free wifi.
Weather: The weather in Woods Hole in March runs the gamut from blowing snow, rain and wind to warm sunny days. Come prepared for anything and you will not be disappointed.
Attire: Business casual with an emphasis on the casual. The Short Course is all about jeans and being comfortable. Bring warm clothes.
